A total success!: Vuntut Gwitchin Workshop

A Meaningful Community Visit and Workshop

SEF Canada was honoured to visit the Vuntut Gwitchin community in early January to deliver a workshop. This workshop was part of a community visit and collaborative learning experience.

The name  “VGFN t’aih Business Development.” emerged through group discussion, marking an important step toward community ownership and reflecting the voices, priorities, and identity of participants.

Workshop Overview

The workshop took place on January 7, 2026, and brought together 16 community members. Participants arrived with curiosity, lived experience, and a strong interest in entrepreneurship. Many shared business ideas, aspirations to start their own ventures, or a desire to support others within the community who are exploring entrepreneurship.

A Milestone Outcome

One of the most exciting outcomes from this visit was the immediate impact.

🏆 In just three days, SEF Canada supported the creation of one new entrepreneur, a record for our team and a powerful reflection of what can happen when learning is community-centered, respectful, and grounded in real needs.

This milestone highlights the importance of relationship-based engagement and meeting communities where they are.

Looking Ahead

SEF Canada is grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside the Vuntut Gwitchin community and to support locally driven economic ideas. This visit reinforced our belief that meaningful impact does not always require large-scale projects—sometimes, it begins with a single conversation, a shared space, and trust.

We look forward to continuing to support communities through engagement, learning, and collaboration.
